Episode II[]

Prologue[]

The prologue starts with Jane talking to Tim's friend Dew on the living room phone before she goes missing. Tim and Jane had planned to go to Chiang Mai for the upcoming Songkran festival and had packed everything, but Tim had recently been promoted and was overloaded with work, leading to the cancellation of their plans. Jane complains to Dew about this over the phone. After the call ends, Jane leaves, but the phone rings again. As Jane answers the phone, Tim wakes up from his dream. He gets up and starts looking for alcohol, finding empty bottles scattered all over the house, indicating his excessive drinking since his wife went missing.

On the living room TV, there is news about an upcoming total solar eclipse. After the news ends, Dew calls again. However, just like in the previous game, Tim only listens to Dew's message on the answering machine. Dew asks why Tim turned off his cell phone, mentioning that their colleagues are worried about him, and finally advises, "You're not young anymore, so cut down on drinking." Tim looks around the house again and retrieves a key from the first floor to open Jane's room, finding a diary that has fallen in front of the door. The diary entries reveal that Tim had been drinking excessively even before Jane's disappearance and that this behavior had persisted throughout their marriage. While investigating Jane's room, Tim suddenly experiences a strong hangover and collapses. When he wakes up, he finds himself in a forest in the middle of the night, a place he has never been before.

Chapter 1: The Light in the Darkness[]

Waking up in a dark forest, Tim navigates to avoid the decaying corpses of dead animals and a red-faced demon that rushes to bite him, eventually ending up in a derelict house. Inside, he finds documents about wish-granting spirits and offerings, and learns about a pair of dancer sisters and their grandmother who trained them. A moving body in the house attacks Tim, but he manages to defeat it and escape. However, upon stepping into an empty lot marked with a red thread, Tim is trapped in a spell that prevents him from leaving the area.

The only way to escape the clearing is to make a wish at a shrine. After wandering through the maze, Tim finds the shrine and decides on an offering. He makes a wish, saying, "Please protect me with holy power," and is instantly teleported back to the abandoned house. When he returns to the shrine with the offering he found in the house, a black spirit with green eyes stares at Tim from behind before disappearing. Finally, Tim escapes the clearing and passes through the forest, reaching a rice paddy where the souls of the dead turn black and ascend to the sky with an eerie incantation sound. Additionally, living corpses with red eyes roam around searching for Tim. As he runs to a bridge on a cliff to avoid them, the bridge suddenly collapses, causing Tim to fall and lose consciousness.

As it is the first chapter, it serves as a tutorial, allowing players to adapt to the game system, which is different from the previous game. This includes recovering with medicine after being forcibly consumed and killing enemies using disposable weapons. In Jane's diary, found in this chapter, she laments her situation of being dragged into a strange world and resents her husband for neglecting her due to his work.

Chapter 2: Main Performance[]

Upon regaining consciousness, Tim finds himself in a wooden building adorned with posters advertising traditional Thai dance performances. The building's decor is similar to the one Jane explored in the previous epilogue. As Tim progresses, he discovers that the two sisters from Chapter 1 have become dancers in this troupe. The cursed dancer from the previous game, who had threatened Jane, attacks Tim. As Tim navigates the house and hallways to avoid the dancers, he realizes that the attacking dancer is the younger sister, Ratri.

Ratri, who had previously made a wish at the shrine just as Tim did in Chapter 1, pursues Tim relentlessly. While avoiding Ratri, Tim solves puzzles and listens to the stories of shadows from the past. Eventually, Ratri traps Tim in a dead-end room. Just as she is about to extract Tim's heart, a voice from the past, the theater owner scolding Ratri, distracts her. Seizing the moment, Tim pushes Ratri towards the voice, causing her to relive her traumatic past. Although Ratri collapses and dissipates in smoke, she is not entirely defeated.

Ratri’s hat, hair, and makeup disappear, and a malevolent aura surrounds her. Tim escapes through a long hallway and arrives at an empty lot filled with mannequins and red thread. Among the threads is a corpse resembling a bleeding doll, which is identified as Ratri’s body. The final boss fight begins as Ratri chases Tim and laughs maniacally.

To defeat Ratri, Tim must use the holy nail and magic dagger to destroy her mannequins. Once enough mannequins are defeated, Ratri’s main body, entangled in red thread, descends to the ground. Touching her main body awakens the corpse, causing a fatal wound to Tim's abdomen, but Tim successfully stabs Ratri’s head. Although Ratri is vanquished, she remains bound to the shrine spirit, forced to fulfill her promise by dancing mournfully.

Chapter 3: Hindrance[]

When Tim regained consciousness, he found a monk next to him who had healed his wounds. The monk introduced himself as a 'Novice' and explained that Tim was currently in a realm situated between the living world and the spirit world. He revealed that Jane, who had been plagued by nightmares, often visited this realm, and the dagger Tim was now holding had been given to Jane for self-defense. The Novice Monk explained the concept of 'Hindrances'—barriers that prevent spirits from moving on due to their attachments, sins, or regrets. He informed Tim that they were currently in a Hindrance and warned that staying in this world for too long could be dangerous. Before leaving, the monk said, "Someone must have dragged you and Jane here," and advised Tim to return to the real world once he was healed.

Ignoring the advice, Tim ventured outside and spotted Jane in the distance. He followed her to the riverbank, where his vision began to blur and he felt weak. Suddenly, an old man appeared. When Tim asked about his identity, the old man retorted, "I don’t have a name for a sinner like you," and threatened Tim by mentioning Jane. Enraged, Tim attacked the old man with the dagger. The old man laughed and commanded his large, imposing bodyguard to attack. As the bodyguard swung his giant knife, Tim tried to defend himself but ended up getting his finger cut off and was thrown aside. Tim fled back to the temple, but he heard a gong ringing, which caused the large man to collapse and vanish. Tim fainted as the monk appeared to save him.

Upon regaining his senses, the monk explained that the old man was named Chai, an unorthodox occultist and a friend of the Novice Monk's father, who collected soul energies for his evil rituals and intended to use Jane and Tim in these dark practices. Tim recounted how the knife he had been using didn't affect Chai, passing right through him, and how Chai's bodyguard easily sliced through the knife and his fingers. The Novice Monk explained that the Penta-metal knife (made from five different metals) was only effective against low-grade evil spirits and was useless against Chai. To defeat Chai, they needed a knife forged from Nona-metal (made from nine different metals), which couldn't be found in the Hindrance realm.

Seeing Tim lose hope, the Novice Monk reassured him, saying that while they couldn't find Nona-metal, they could still create something nearly as strong. The monk then directed Tim to find a few special ingredients. As Tim gathered and used the ingredients to complete the new knife, evil spirits swarmed the temple. Tim fought off the spirits, and with a final thunder strike, the spirits were defeated and the knife was completed. However, the Novice Monk had exhausted his strength and could no longer assist physically, so he disappeared. Tim, now alone, took up the enchanted knife and found that a light had imprinted on his right arm, granting him the ability to perform long-range attacks. The monk’s voice, though he was no longer present, warned Tim that the knife was meant for protection and to seize spirits, not for harmful intent. Using it with malicious intent would corrupt the user's soul and mind, consuming them into the occult.

Emerging from the temple, Tim saw Jane's silhouette in the distance again. She led him to a cliff, where she appeared to jump off in a suicide attempt. Tim rushed to save her but grabbed only a straw doll. At that moment, Chai's bodyguard seized Tim from behind. It became clear that all the Janes encountered since the previous game had been traps set by Chai to lure Tim. Ultimately, Tim was captured by Chai and taken away.

Chapter 4: Hidden Tomb[]

In the midst of his waking consciousness, Tim heard the sound of Jane being dragged somewhere in the neighboring prison cell. He woke up and found a pile of stones covered with witchcraft symbols on one side of the prison wall, indicating a way through to Jane's room. Inside, he found Jane's laments inscribed on the walls like a diary, detailing her suffering and despair.

When Tim stepped outside, Chai and the large man returned. Tim quickly hid in the shadows and avoided detection. In the process of escaping the prison, he fought off numerous evil spirits and gathered vital information. He discovered that Chai planned to perform a significant ritual during a total solar eclipse, and both Jane and Tim were intended sacrifices. The large man was revealed to be an executioner who had died in the past and was resurrected by Chai's magic. His entire body, except for his blind eyes, was immune to magic.

As Tim navigated through the tomb and solved various traps and puzzles, he found a piece of paper written by Chai. It contained information about the torment endured by sinners and instructions on how to open the gates of hell. Tim also found another fragment of Jane's diary, revealing her feelings of frustration and loneliness. She wrote about meeting Dew, Tim's friend, who listened to her and offered her kind advice. The overall message hinted at her wish for Tim to be more like Dew. However, the next diary fragment ominously read, "There are things in the world that cannot be undone," suggesting something irreversible had occurred.

Crucially, after the date of that passage, Jane's diary described abnormal phenomena, including nightmares and disappearances that began in the previous game. This implied that Jane's troubles started not when they moved into a new house, but after a specific action she took.

After overcoming all the dangers, Tim finally emerged from the tomb and reached the temple exit, where he saw a giant Buddha statue and the sky. As he was about to step out, the floor of the exit suddenly collapsed, causing him to crash into an underground cavern filled with stalactites and subterranean water.

Chapter 5: Five Deadly Sins[]

As Tim proceeds through the cave, which is damp with underground water and full of stalactites, the wall suddenly collapses, and the executioner appears. Chai orders the executioner, demanding Tim be brought back. Moving away from the executioner, Tim reaches an area with several gongs similar to those seen in the temple. Each time a gong is rung, the vines blocking the path collapse one by one, causing the executioner to rush and break the gong in pain. Repeating this process allows Tim to move to the next area, but the executioner continues to follow. Tim advances further, arriving at a room filled with old artillery pieces and cannonballs. Here, Tim faces the executioner again. By ringing the gong to remove the vine, a door opens, allowing Tim to manipulate the cannon and blast the executioner down the corridor. However, the executioner reappears, covered in wounds, and charges through the wall. Tim escapes the collapsing underground ruins, and the executioner is buried under the falling debris.

Eventually, Tim finds Chai praying cross-legged deep underground. Despite Tim's angry outbursts, Chai remains focused. When Tim stabs Chai's neck with the dagger, an unknown red energy flows into Tim's right hand through the knife, turning the inscription on the knife golden and upgrading it. At this moment, the executioner reappears, bursting through the wall. As he is about to attack Tim, he suddenly becomes petrified and turns to stone. The Magic Knife is now transformed into the Enhanced Magic Knife. Believing Chai to be dead, Tim proceeds to an intact hallway, lined with long murals depicting the Buddhist hell realms. The murals illustrate the five types of hell that sinners are condemned to based on their earthly sins, aligned with the five precepts of Buddhism:

1. The First Sinner: Sin of Murder[]

This sin was committed by Belle. She indirectly caused Shane's death through her use of a Lechery Jinx, which made him obsessively fall in love with her. When Belle died, Shane, unable to cope with her loss, took his own life. Thus, Belle is considered a sinner of murder due to her indirect role in Shane’s death.

2. The Second Sinner: Sin of Theft[]

Pichai, also known as Preta, is the sinner of theft. As a secondary antagonist and hostile spirit from the first game, Pichai committed theft during his lifetime. His actions were deemed grave enough to categorize him as a sinner of theft in the afterlife.

3. The Third Sinner: Sin of Sexual Misconduct[]

Jane is the sinner of sexual misconduct. She betrayed Tim by having an affair with his best friend Dew. This act of infidelity is classified as sexual misconduct, marking Jane's transgression.

4. The Fourth Sinner: Sin of Falsehood[]

Ratri is the sinner of falsehood. During her lifetime, Ratri made a deal with a forest spirit to become the lead dancer at an event in exchange for a promise to perform naked. Once her wish was fulfilled, she became prideful and failed to keep her end of the bargain. As a result, she was killed by the forest spirit, marking her as a sinner of falsehood.

5. The Fifth Sinner: Sin of Intoxication[]

Tim, the main character, is the sinner of intoxication. Known for his excessive drinking, especially after Jane's disappearance, Tim’s alcohol abuse reflects the sin of intoxication. His worsening dependency on alcohol further underscores his role as a sinner of this nature.

After passing through the hallway, Tim emerges into a large circular clearing where a solar eclipse is visible. There, he finally finds Jane tied to a pole across the clearing. As Tim approaches Jane, he notices four other pillars with bodies tied to them, belonging to Patra and Pichai from the previous game and Ratri from other nightmares. Jane apologizes repeatedly, saying, "I brought you here for my sins."The reunion is short-lived as a massive sword suddenly pierces Jane's upper body. The attacker is a monstrous creature with the Chai's head attached to executioner's body. An enraged Tim battles the monster, eventually knocking Chai down. Tim rushes to Jane, but she dies from her injuries. Chai, now an invincible evil spirit, pursues Tim. Tim flees to the only illuminated path, where the Novice Monk awaits and confronts Chai. The monk urges Tim, "Quickly, this way! Return to your world! Leave the rest to me." In a desperate move, Tim throws himself out of the cave.

Epilogue[]

Standard Ending[]

Tim wakes up in Jane's room, now bathed in bright sunlight. The house is free of darkness and the red threads that once haunted them have disappeared. Despite the newfound peace, Tim is overwhelmed with sorrow, mourning Jane, who can no longer return. Just then, the phone rings. It's Dew, a close friend who had been trying to reach Tim with messages since the events of the previous game. Dew expresses relief at finally connecting with Tim and expresses concern over Jane's disappearance, asking to meet in person. Tim responds, "Yeah... Come on over. I really wanna talk... to you," as he raises his brightly tattooed arm, hinting at the enhanced magic knife. This suggests that Novice Monk's warning was true—killing unarmed Chai with the intention of killing instead of defense had corrupted Tim's soul. The rage hidden in his calm demeanor and his invitation to Dew reveal the turmoil within him.

Secret Ending[]

If all Picture Pieces (collectibles) are found:Tim wakes up in Jane's room, seeing Jane writing something at her study table before she disappears. On the table is a paper with "I'm sorry." written by Jane. In the living room, Tim finds the picture frame that had been falling throughout the two games, now with something under it. It reveals a photo of Jane and Dew, which had been torn and taped back together. This picture indicates that Jane was cheating on Tim with his best friend Dew and ties back to the note of apology left by Jane. The rest of the ending proceeds as in the standard ending, with Dew calling Tim and the rest unfolding as previously described.

Tips & Hidden Elements[]

As you progress through Chapter 2, you'll encounter a room with a radio and several instruments. If you play the instruments in the correct order to match the music on the radio, you can unlock a room with an Easter Egg. Inside, you'll find fan art created by the community and collectible items. The quality of the fan art, particularly from Thai fans, is exceptional. Among the highlights are parodies of famous works like "The Creation" and references to "Your Name" and "Oreimo," offering a brief reprieve from the game's horror atmosphere. Additionally, in this chapter, when you look out the window in the secret area where you uncover Tida's backstory, you might spot a mannequin making finger heart gestures with both hands.
